The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the parent Anaheim Ducks have signed left wing Josh Green to a one-year, two-way NHL/American Hockey League contract.
As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Green, 32, appeared in 47 games with Modo of the Swedish Elite League (SEL) last season, tallying 20 points (12g, 8a) and a team-leading 79 penalty minutes. Prior to playing in Sweden, Green spent the 2008-09 campaign with the Ducks’ then AHL affiliate in Iowa, recording 24 points (10g, 14a) and 52 penalty minutes in 39 games. In addition, he appeared in five playoff games for Anaheim.
Green has skated in 266 career AHL games with Fredericton, Springfield, Lowell (Lock Monsters), Hamilton, Manitoba and Iowa since 1997-98, registering 83 goals, 98 assists, 181 points and 267 penalty minutes.
He has also appeared in 322 combined NHL games over the course of his 13-year professional career with Los Angeles, the New York Islanders, Edmonton, the New York Rangers, Washington, Calgary, Vancouver and Anaheim, notching 74 points (35g, 39a) and 193 penalty minutes.
A native of Camrose, Alta., Green was selected by Los Angeles in the second round, 30th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
