Brett Engelhardt scored on a penalty shot and added three assists to lead Toronto to a 5-3 win over Grand Rapids at Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday evening.
Engelhardt’s four points were the most by a Marlies player this season.
Erik Westrum and Karel Pilar each recorded a goal and an assist for Toronto, which finished 3-for-15 on the power play while going a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
The Marlies scored three times on eight shots in the third period, with Colin Murphy snapping a 3-3 deadlock with 10:46 left in regulation.
Reid Cashman, who just completed his senior season at Quinnipiac University, earned an assist in his professional debut for Toronto.
Eric Himelfarb, Ben Simon and Jon Insana scored for the Griffins, who are winless in their last six games (0-2-1-3).
PORTLAND 5, BRIDGEPORT 2
Joe Motzko scored twice and Mark Hartigan recorded four assists as Portland snapped a four-game road losing streak with a 5-2 win in Bridgeport.
David McKee made 23 saves to earn the victory in his AHL debut.
Drew Miller and Greg Amadio chipped in with a goal and an assist apiece for the Pirates, who are now seven points out of fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
The Sound Tigers, who got goals from Jason Pitton and Frans Nielsen, remain two points ahead of fifth-place Albany in the East Division.
CHICAGO 6, PEORIA 1
Kevin Doell scored one goal and assisted on two others as Chicago took care of Peoria, 6-1, at Allstate Arena to earn a split of the teams’ home-and-home weekend series.
Colin Stuart and Brian Fahey each had a goal and an assist for the Wolves, who remain one point ahead of Omaha atop the West Division.
Chicago finished the season series with an 8-1-0-1 record against the Rivermen, scoring at least six goals in four of the wins. The Wolves are 14-2-1-3 against their downstate rivals since Peoria entered the AHL last year.
HARTFORD 1, PROVIDENCE 0
Al Montoya rebounded from two poor outings to post his fifth shutout of the season, backstopping Hartford to a 1-0 win in Providence.
Montoya, who was lifted from each of his two previous starts, made 36 saves to improve to 22-15-0 on the season. The second-year pro is third in the AHL with a 2.18 goals-against average.
Alex Bourret scored the game’s only goal, his second as a member of the Wolf Pack and his 13th of the year.
Hannu Toivonen stopped 25 shots in the loss as the Bruins fell three points behind second-place Hartford in the Atlantic Division.
MANCHESTER 4, SPRINGFIELD 3
Lauri Tukonen scored two of Manchester’s three goals in the first 8:14 of the game and the Monarchs held on for a 4-3 win in Springfield.
Defenseman Eric Werner registered one goal, two assists and a plus-4 rating for Manchester. Tim Jackman also scored, and Marty Murray tallied two assists.
Kevin Beech stopped 21 of 23 shots in his professional debut for the Falcons, working in relief of Jonathan Boutin.
OMAHA 2, SAN ANTONIO 1
Omaha kept pace with division-leading Chicago, posting a 2-1 win in San Antonio on Sunday evening. It was the eighth straight road victory for the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, who are still one point behind the first-place Wolves.
Brandon Prust put the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights on top at 15:40 of the first period, and Chris Neiszner netted his first AHL goal of the season at 14:10 of the second.
Curtis McElhinney (29-16-1) made 24 saves, allowing only an Alex Leavitt goal in the third period.
Donald MacLean recorded an assist for the Rampage, extending his scoring streak to eight games (8g, 8a).

HERSHEY 3, BINGHAMTON 1
Hershey became the first AHL team to 100 points this season, scoring twice in the third period for a 3-1 win over Binghamton at Giant Center.
The Bears (44-14-6-6) won all five games on their nine-day homestand.
Jakub Klepis scored the go-ahead goal with 7:12 left in regulation and Dave Steckel and Stephen Werner recorded a goal and an assist each for Hershey, while Frederic Cassivi made 28 saves.
Ryan Vesce scored a shorthanded goal for the Senators.
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON 4, PHILADELPHIA 2
Jonathan Filewich scored two goals in 43 seconds during the second period, breaking a 1-1 tie and sending Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 4-2 win in Philadelphia.
Filewich added an assist for a three-point game and Kyle Brodziak and Joe Jensen each had a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who remain in third place in the East Division, three points behind Norfolk and four back of Hershey.
Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers made 24 saves for his first win since Mar. 2.
Denis Tolpeko and John Slaney scored for the Phantoms.
SYRACUSE 3, ROCHESTER 2
Zenon Konopka and Ryan Keller scored third-period goals to send Syracuse to a 3-2 win in Rochester, keeping the Crunch’s playoff hopes alive.
Tomas Popperle made 18 saves for Syracuse, which won its fifth straight game and improved to 11-3-1-1 in its last 16 contests.
The Crunch are nine points behind fourth-place Grand Rapids in the North Division with 10 games remaining.
Kamil Kreps had a goal and an assist for the Amerks and Noah Welch scored for his first point in a Rochester sweater.
