SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League and ESPN International announced today a new agreement that will see AHL games aired on ESPN America – the only European network devoted to the best in North American Sport – in more than 35 countries in Europe and the Middle East, reaching millions of fans.
ESPN America’s coverage will initially feature up to 10 games per month, selected from the AHL’s existing broadcast schedule, in a combination of live and delayed telecasts. In addition to the regular-season and Calder Cup Playoff action, ESPN America will carry the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic from Atlantic City in late January.
“This agreement with ESPN is an exciting new opportunity for the American Hockey League,” said Chris Nikolis, executive vice president of marketing and business development for the AHL. “We look forward to delivering the excitement and quality of AHL hockey to ESPN America’s viewers in northern Europe and the Middle East.”
