Falcons sign Hoeffel, Labrie

The Springfield Falcons have signed free agents Mike Hoeffel and Hubert Labrie to one-year American Hockey League contracts.

Hoeffel, 25, spent the 2013-14 season with the Albany Devils, earning 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 53 appearances.

The North Oaks, Minn., native has skated in 165 career AHL games with the Devils, amassing a total of 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points. Hoeffel spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota (2007-11), recording 48 goals and 39 assists for 87 points in 149 appearances.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound left wing was drafted in the second round, 57th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Labrie, 23, skated in 40 games with the Texas Stars last season, tallying two goals and five assists for seven points along with a plus-11 rating. He also appeared in four postseason games, helping the Stars win the Calder Cup.

The Victoriaville, Que., native is a veteran of 100 AHL games over the last three seasons, tallying four goals and nine assists for 13 points. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defenseman played four seasons of junior hockey with Gatineau (QMJHL) collecting 48 points (10 goals, 38 assists) in 192 appearances.
