Flames add Kostka as part of trade with Sens

The Calgary Flames, parent club of the AHL’s Stockton Heat, have acquired forward Curtis Lazar and defenseman Michael Kostka from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka and a second-round draft pick in 2017.

Kostka, 31, has one goal and 11 assists in 46 AHL games with Binghamton this season, his ninth pro campaign. He has appeared in 502 career AHL contests with Binghamton, Hartford, Rockford, Toronto, Norfolk, San Antonio, Rochester and Portland, totaling 48 goals and 207 assists for 255 points. He was an AHL All-Star in 2016 and won a Calder Cup championship with Norfolk in 2012, scoring the game-winning goal in the Cup-clinching game at Toronto.

Kostka has recorded four goals and 17 assists in 85 career NHL games with Ottawa, the New York Rangers, Toronto, Chicago and Tampa Bay.

Lazar, 22, began the 2016-17 season with the AHL’s Binghamton Senators where he tallied three goals and one assist in 13 games. He has spent the entirety of his NHL career with Ottawa, recording 12 goals and 24 assists in 176 games.

Jokipakka, 25, has appeared in 38 games with Calgary this season and has recorded six points (one goal, five assists). He also represented Finland at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, and was a member of the Texas Stars’ Calder Cup championship team in 2014.
