The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday traded defenseman Jakub Kindl to the Florida Panthers for a 2017 sixth round pick.
Detroit’s first choice (19th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kindl appeared in 273 games with the Red Wings across seven seasons, totaling 68 points (16-52—68) and 149 penalty minutes. In 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Red Wings (2013 through 2015), he registered five points (1-4—5) and 12 PIM.
Kindl played for the Griffins in eight different seasons (2005-11; 14-16), totaling 249 career games. He accumulated 94 points (17-77—94), 239 PIM and earned a starting nod in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic.
