Golden Knights sign four

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forwards Patrick Brown and Tyrell Goulbourne to two-year contracts, and defensemen Brett Lernout and Jaycob Megna to one-year contracts.

Brown, 27, captained the Charlotte Checkers to the 2019 Calder Cup championship, contributing 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 70 regular-season games as well as five goals and five assists in 11 postseason outings. Charlotte defeated the Chicago Wolves, Vegas’s AHL affiliate, in the Calder Cup Finals.

Brown also made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in 2019, appearing in eight games for Carolina on their run to the Eastern Conference Final.

Brown has spent his entire five-year pro career in the Hurricanes organization, notching 53 goals and 72 assists for 125 points in 334 AHL games with Charlotte. He has also picked up one goal and one assist in 28 NHL games with Carolina.

Goulbourne, 25, registered nine goals and nine assists for 18 points along with 135 penalty minutes in 63 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season. He also skated in two NHL games with Philadelphia.

A third-round pick by the Flyers in the 2013 NHL Draft, Goulbourne has appeared in 223 AHL games with the Phantoms, notching 25 goals, 30 assists and 313 PIM. He has 11 career NHL games to his credit as well.

Lernout, 23, recorded four goals and five assists for nine points in 74 AHL games with the Laval Rocket in 2018-19, his fourth pro season.

A third-round choice by Montreal in the 2014 NHL Draft, Lernout has appeared in 279 AHL games with Laval, St. John’s and Hamilton, notching 10 goals and 35 assists for 45 points.

In 21 NHL games with the Canadiens, Lernout has recorded one assist.

Megna, 26, completed his fifth season in the Anaheim organization in 2018-19, posting two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 38 AHL games as captain of the San Diego Gulls along with one goal and three assists in 28 games with the Ducks.

A seventh-round choice by Anaheim in the 2012 NHL Draft, Megna has 10 goals and 59 assists for 69 points along with a plus-61 rating in 250 AHL games with San Diego and Norfolk.

In 43 NHL contests with the Ducks, Megna has totaled one goal and four assists.
