Colin Greening scored 45 seconds into overtime and Toronto grabbed a 2-1 series lead with a 3-2 win over visiting Albany on Wednesday night.
The Marlies go for the series win in Game 4 on Friday.
Greening took a pass from Justin Holl, gained the offensive zone and snapped a shot from between the circles that beat Mackenzie Blackwood for his second goal of the series.
Brendan Leipsic scored twice in regulation for the Marlies while Kasperi Kapanen and Travis Dermott recorded two assists each.
John Quenneville and Carter Camper scored for the Devils.
After playing the third period of Game 2, Kasimir Kaskisuo made his first career postseason start in the AHL and finished with 27 saves to pick up the win.
