Gretzky returning to San Antonio

The San Antonio Rampage have proudly announced that Wayne Gretzky will be heading to San Antonio on Sept. 27 to kick off a new era of Rampage hockey. The temperature at the SBC Center will drop to freezing levels when the Rampage, the new affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes, hits the ice for the first day of training camp.

As part of the festivities, the Rampage will host a welcome party for the general public to meet the entire Rampage team, including head coach Pat Conacher and assistant coach Gord Dineen.

Highlighting the event will be a special question-and-answer session with Coyotes head coach and managing partner Gretzky and the audience as he returns to San Antonio for the first time since playing in a preseason NHL game between the Dallas Stars and Los Angeles Kings 10 years ago (Sept. 26, 1995).

Fans that bring their camera will have the opportunity to take a picture with the Stanley Cup, the most coveted trophy in all of sports, and see where The Great One’s name is engraved four times. Gretzky memorabilia from the Hockey Hall of Fame will be on display.

Fans will be able to purchase individual game tickets and can also register to win a free trip to Phoenix to see Gretzky coach the Coyotes in a regular season game.

There will be free hot dogs and soft drinks. Admission and parking is free.
