Hilbert, Bruins power past Bridgeport

Andy Hilbert scored three goals and Keith Aucoin dished out three assists as Providence earned a 7-5 win over visiting Bridgeport on Friday night.

Hilbert, named Thursday to the 2005 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team, recorded two of the Bruins’ four power-play goals on the night. The B’s went 4-for-6 with the man advantage, while the Sound Tigers were a perfect 3-for-3.

Bridgeport rallied from deficits of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3, and took a 5-4 lead on Kevin Colley‘s goal with 5:29 left in the second period. Hilbert capped his hat trick less than four minutes later.

Colley added three assists for a four-point effort for the Sound Tigers. Sean Bergenheim, who will join Hilbert on the PlanetUSA team, scored twice, while Jim Campbell added a goal and an assist.

Cody Rudkowsky earned the win, stopping all 11 shots he faced in relief of Hannu Toivonen.

Dieter Kochan made 40 saves in the loss as Bridgeport’s road winless streak hit 14 games.
