IceCaps add depth with signings

The St. John’s IceCaps have agreed to terms with Yasin Cisse, Will O’Neill, Blair Riley and Ryan Schnell on American Hockey League contracts.

Cisse, 21, began last season at Boston University before joining Blainville-Boisbriand of the QMJHL. He notched two assists in 13 games at BU, as well as eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 27 games with Blainville-Boisbriand.

A 2010 draft pick by the Atlanta Thrashers, Cisse appeared in 39 games over his college career at Boston University, totaling two goals and five assists.

O’Neill, 25, played in 59 games as a rookie with the IceCaps during the 2012-13 season, recording three goals and 18 assists for 21 points.

The native of Salem, Mass., made his pro debut with St. John’s at the end of the 2011-12 campaign, notching one goal and two assists in seven games. O’Neill played four seasons at the University of Maine and was drafted by Atlanta in 2006.

Riley, 27, completed his third pro season in 2012-13, notching seven goals, eight assists and 165 penalty minutes in 74 AHL games for Bridgeport. He has appeared in 144 career AHL games, totaling 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points.

A native of Chase, B.C., Riley played four years of college hockey at Ferris State University.

Schnell, 24, was scoreless in 22 games with St. John’s last season; he also had four goals and three assists in 12 games with Colorado of the ECHL.

The Cary, Ill., native has played in 45 career AHL games between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and St. John’s during his four professional seasons, tallying two goals, one assist and 140 PIM.
