Jonsson, Picard assigned to Phantoms

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have assigned defensemen Lars Jonsson and Alexandre Picard to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Jonsson, 24, was the seventh overall pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The native of Borlange, Sweden, is in his first season of North American hockey, and has posted one assist in two games with the Flyers.

He missed the first eight games of the season due to a high right ankle sprain.

Picard, 21, was scoreless in four games with the Flyers this season. He also posted one goal and one assist in four games for the Phantoms in 2006-07.

A native of Gatineau, Que., Picard was a third-round draft choice by Philadelphia in 2003.
