Jeff Tambellini scored twice to cap a furious third-period rally and Adam Hauser kept Springfield scoreless in a shootout as Manchester posted a 6-5 win at the MassMutual Center on Thursday night.
The Falcons took a 5-2 lead on Mitch Fritz‘s goal with 4:44 left in regulation, and appeared headed to an easy victory.
But Brendan Bernakevitch cut the deficit to two just 27 seconds later, and Tambellini scored twice in a span of 62 seconds, first on a 5-on-3 at the 18:04 mark and then the equalizer at 19:06.
Konstantin Pushkarev had a goal and an assist for the Monarchs and Noah Clarke had the only goal of the shootout.
Norm Milley recorded a goal and two assists to lead the Falcons.
