The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have signed goaltender Karl Goehring to an American Hockey League contract.
Goehring, 29, finished fourth in the AHL with a 2.20 goals-against average in 2007-08, going 15-9-2 with two shutouts in 29 total appearances for Syracuse, Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He was also 7-6 in 13 postseason games with the Crunch, including a first-round series victory over Manitoba.
The Apple Valley, Minn., native was named the Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for March 2008 after going 7-0-1 in eight games with a 1.59 GAA and a .951 save percentage. He was also named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 2.
Goehring has played in 247 AHL games in his seven-year career, with a lifetime GAA of 2.66, a save percentage of .913 and an overall record of 104-103-20. He is the all-time leader among Crunch goalies in games played (174) and wins (78) and ranks second in shutouts (10).
Goehring participated in the 2003 AHL All-Star Classic in Portland. He was also a member of the NCAA champion University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux in 2000, and was named to the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team as well as a First Team All-American.
