Oilers agree to terms with Hamilton, Acton

The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons, have agreed to terms with forwards Ryan Hamilton and Will Acton on two-year deals.

Both Hamilton and Acton join the Oilers organization from the Toronto Marlies, where they played for new Edmonton head coach Dallas Eakins.

Hamilton set a career high with 30 goals and added 18 assists for 48 points in 56 games with the Marlies in 2012-13, and chipped in two assists in 10 NHL games with the Maple Leafs. Hamilton was also the MVP of the 2013 AHL All-Star Game, contributing a hat trick for the victorious Western Conference side.

Hamilton, a native of Oshawa, Ont., has played 421 AHL games with Toronto and Houston, tallying 129 goals and 104 assists for 233 points. He also has three assists in 12 career NHL contests.

Acton recorded eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 67 AHL games in 2012-13, and added four goals and two assists in nine postseason contests.

As a rookie in 2011-12, Acton tallied seven goals and nine assists in 69 games and helped the Marlies reach the Calder Cup Finals, registering one goal and one assist in 17 playoff games.
