Rau, Khudobin help Aeros get past Rampage

Houston rookie Chad Rau tallied two goals and an assist, and goaltender Anton Khudobin turned aside 29 shots as the Aeros came away with a 5-3 road win over San Antonio on Thursday at the AT&T Center.

Rau registered his third multiple-goal game of the season – and second in his last six contests – for the Aeros, while Rau’s three-point effort represents a season high.

Andy Hilbert recorded a goal and an assist for Houston, which erupted for four goals in the third period after the teams’ entered the frame tied at 1-1.

Aeros forwards Danny Irmen and Carson McMillan also scored in the victory, as Houston moved to 3-1-0-0 in its last four contests.

Shaun Heshka (1-1-2), Joel Perrault, and Mikkel Boedker netted goals for the Rampage in the losing effort.

The Aeros and Rampage, both of whom are destined to miss the playoffs this season, will conclude the regular season with another meeting in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon.
