River Rats sign Kinkel

The Albany River Rats are proud to announce that their National Hockey League affiliate, the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, have reached an agreement with forward Bill Kinkel on an American Hockey League contract.

"Bill adds depth for our club and is a physical power forward who will be able to play a strong corner game," said general manager/head coach Tom Rowe. "He will create chaos in front of the opposition’s net, plus his size and physical style is a good complement to our roster."

Kinkel, 22, scored three goals and three assists for six points with a team-leading 190 penalty minutes in 56 games for the Houston Aeros during the 2005-06 campaign. He shows six goals and nine points with 231 penalty minutes in 68 career AHL games, all with the Aeros.

The native of Buffalo, N.Y., was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2002.
