Stalock earns reGen recovery award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that goaltender Alex Stalock has been selected as the winner of the reGen® Muscle Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award for February.

After recovering from an injury last season that sidelined him for more than a year, Stalock got back into AHL action on February 19 and made 15 saves to backstop the Worcester Sharks to a 2-1 victory over the Springfield Falcons.

Now a member of the Peoria Rivermen, Stalock was an AHL All-Star and set an American Hockey League record for wins by a rookie goaltender in 2009-10 when he went 39-19-2 and helped Worcester to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Shortly after he made his NHL debut with San Jose last year, Stalock was injured in a game vs. Manchester on Feb. 4, 2011, when the back of his leg was accidentally stepped on, resulting in a deep laceration that required surgery and lengthy rehab.

For his role in his team’s victory after his own impressive recovery, the South St. Paul, Minn. native will be honored with the reGen®/AHL Performance of the Month award at an upcoming game.
