Stalock reassigned to Peoria

The San Jose Sharks have reassigned goaltender Alex Stalock from the Worcester Sharks to the Peoria Rivermen, it was announced on Saturday.

Returning from a year-long injury absence, Stalock posted a 1-1-0 record with a 2.51 GAA and a .909 save percentage in two games with Worcester this season.

Statement from Worcester Sharks general manager Wayne Thomas:

“Alex will have the opportunity to be part of a two-goaltender system in Peoria which will allow him to play in more games for the rest of this season. He remains an important part of our future and the entire Sharks organization is excited to see Alex get this opportunity to play. Our development staff will continue to support Alex with his comeback and follow his progress closely in Peoria.”

The 24-year-old native of South St. Paul, Minn., was Worcester’s team MVP in 2009-10, when he set an AHL rookie record with 39 wins. He has compiled a 59-37-6 all-time record in the AHL, and earned the win in his only NHL appearance with San Jose.

Worcester currently has 2012 AHL All-Star Tyson Sexsmith and rookie Harri Sateri on its roster as the Sharks continue to battle for a playoff berth in the AHL’s Eastern Conference.
