HERSHEY 8, BINGHAMTON 3
Andrew Gordon and Brian Willsie each scored as part of a six-goal opening period for Hershey, and the Bears cruised to an 8-3 win over visiting Binghamton on Sunday before 7,555 fans at the Giant Center.

Gordon and Willsie each finished with two goals and two assists on the night, and Kyle Greentree also registered a pair of assists in the victory. Steve Pinizzotto and defenseman Lawrence Nycholat (1-1-2) rounded out Hershey’s offense.

Gordon put Hershey on top 1:10 into the contest, and then he, Willsie, and Pinizzotto scored three goals in a span of 1:50 to give Hershey a 4-0 edge and send them on their way to the rout.

Bears forward Mathieu Perreault picked up a remarkable six assists to set an AHL season high for points in a game, and Hershey goaltender Semyon Varlamov stopped 21 shots to earn the win in his AHL season debut.

Hershey, which established a season high for goals in a game, improved to 7-3-0-0 in its last 10 games.

Jim O’Brien, Zack Smith, and Derek Smith all scored for the Senators, who fell to 1-3-0-0 in their last four contests.

MANCHESTER 4, SPRINGFIELD 2
Manchester erased a 2-0 deficit to come away with a 4-2 win over visiting Springfield at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday.

Bud Holloway scored twice for the Monarchs, who also got goals from Andrei Loktionov and Oscar Moller. Loktionov’s second goal of the year snapped a 2-2 tie with 3:18 to play in regulation, and Moller sealed the win with a last-minute empty-netter.

Defenseman Alec Martinez (0-3-3) and forward Dwight King (0-2-2) each posted multiple assists, and Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 16 of 18 shots between the pipes.

Rookie Matt Calvert registered a goal and an assist for the Falcons, and Ben Guite also found the back of the net.

Manchester halted a three-game losing skid.

WORCESTER 3, NORFOLK 1
Worcester bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday by capturing a 3-1 decision over visiting Norfolk on Sunday at the DCU Center.

The Sharks wrapped up their season series vs. the Admirals at 2-2-0-0, with the home team prevailing in all four contests.

Worcester defenseman Mike Moore had been without a goal in his first four games this season before scoring twice in this one, including the eventual game-winner at 13:27 of the second period.

Dan DaSilva also notched his first goal of the season for Worcester, while Kevin Henderson (0-3-3) and Andrew Desjardins (0-2-2) each chipped in multiple assists.

Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock earned the win with 27 saves on 28 shots, helping his club move to 5-1-0-1 in its last seven contests.

Paul Szczechura netted his team-leading eighth goal for the Admirals, who finished 0-1-2-0 in three road games this weekend.

SAN ANTONIO 5, CHICAGO 2
San Antonio went a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play in the third period, built a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes, and cruised to a 5-2 win over visiting Chicago on Sunday at the AT&T Center.

The surging Rampage collected their fourth straight win and moved into a tie for first place in the AHL’s overall standings at 12-4-1-0 (25 points) through 17 contests.

Alexandre Picard and Mikkel Boedker each posted a goal and an assist for the Rampage, while Ryan Hollweg, Bracken Kearns, and Viktor Tikhonov also scored.

San Antonio received two assists apiece from Mathieu Beaudoin and recently-assigned rookie defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and goaltender Matt Climie (8-3-0) earned the win with 25 saves on 27 shots.

Jason Krog (1-1-2) and Paul Postma tallied goals for the Wolves, who have now lost five straight games and dropped to 6-9-1-0 overall.

PROVIDENCE 5, ABBOTSFORD 4 (SO)
Yannick Riendeau and Jordan Knackstedt tallied shootout goals to lift Providence past visiting Abbotsford by a 5-4 count on Sunday before 7,047 fans at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Captain Jeremy Reich scored twice and Wyatt Smith and Jamie Arniel once apiece in regulation for the Bruins, who erased deficits of 1-0 and 3-2 to take a 4-3 lead with just 1:24 to play in regulation. Reich nabbed both the game-tying goal (16:11) and the go-ahead goal (18:36).

But Heat rookie defenseman T.J. Brodie notched his first professional goal with 28 seconds to play, sending the contest to overtime.

Providence goaltender Michael Hutchinson turned aside four of Abbotsford’s five shootout tries after making 34 saves through the first 65 minutes. Rookie Greg Nemisz had the Heat’s lone successful shootout attempt.

The Bruins avenged a 5-2 loss to the Heat on Friday and improved to 5-1-0-0 in their last six games, moving over .500 for the first time all season at 7-6-1-1 overall.

Abbotsford, which saw its five-game winning streak come to an end, continues its five-game road swing with a pair of games in Peoria next weekend.

GRAND RAPIDS 2, HAMILTON 1
Brandon Straub scored his first career AHL goal at 7:11 of the third period, snapping a 1-1 tie and sending Grand Rapids to a 2-1 road win over Hamilton at Copps Coliseum on Sunday.

The Griffins reversed the final score of Saturday night’s matchup with the Bulldogs and improved to 8-4-0-3 on the season overall.

Francis Pare put Grand Rapids on top 8:53 into the contest, and that 1-0 lead held until 1:31 of the third period, when Hamilton defenseman Yannick Weber netted a power play goal to tie it up.

Straub’s game-winning goal was then assisted by Brett Raedeke and defenseman Brendan Smith, and it made a winner of Griffins goaltender Thomas McCollum, who stopped 21 of 22 shots in net.

HOUSTON 5, PEORIA 2
Houston defenseman Maxim Noreau registered a goal and two assists to lead Houston over host Peoria by a 5-2 final on Sunday at Carver Arena.

The Aeros avenged a 3-0 loss to the Rivermen a night earlier and improved to 5-1-0-2 in their last eight games overall.

Noreau, a 2009-10 Second Team AHL All-Star, nabbed his third goal of the season and assisted on tallies by rookie forward Joel Broda and rookie defenseman Jared Spurgeon, who recorded his first professional goal.

Carson McMillan (1-1-2) and Petr Kalus also scored for the Aeros, and first-year goaltender Matt Hackett (3-3-1) secured the win with 23 saves on 25 shots.

T.J. Hensick and defenseman Ian Cole each scored for Peoria, which dropped to 2-5-0-1 in its last eight outings.
