SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Daniel Taylor of the Manchester Monarchs has been named the Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for January. Taylor made six appearances last month, posting a record of 5-0-0 with a 0.87 goals-against average, a .972 save percentage and three shutouts.
Taylor stopped 26 shots in a 3-2 shootout win at Binghamton on Jan. 12 and 28 more in a 6-2 victory at Philadelphia on Jan. 13. After denying 20 of 21 shots in two periods of relief work at Rockford on Jan. 16, Taylor closed out the month with three consecutive shutouts, blanking Milwaukee (30 saves) on Jan. 18, Worcester (35 saves) on Jan. 23 and Lowell (32 saves) on Jan. 25. Taylor enters February without having allowed a goal in his last 185:36 of work.
In recognition of his achievement, Taylor will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Monarchs home game.
Taylor, a 21-year-old native of Plymouth, England, is now 7-2-0 with a 1.90 GAA, a .939 save percentage and three shutouts in 11 games with Manchester this season. He was a 2004 draft pick by the Los Angeles Kings.
