The American Hockey League announced today that Brad Tiley of the Milwaukee Admirals and Craig Darby of the Springfield Falcons will serve as playing captains for the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in Manchester, N.H.
Captains for the American Hockey League All-Star teams are selected by the league in recognition of their outstanding service and leadership to the AHL.
Making his third career AHL All-Star Classic appearance (1999, 2000), Brad Tiley has recorded 96 goals and 266 assists for 362 points in 625 career American Hockey League contests with the Milwaukee Admirals, Philadelphia Phantoms, Springfield Falcons, Binghamton Rangers and Maine Mariners. In 2000, he won the Eddie Shore Award, given to the AHL’s outstanding defenseman, as he set career highs with 54 assists and 68 points. The 14-year pro won his first championship with Milwaukee in 2004, leading the team in scoring among defensemen; he has six goals and eight assists in 33 games so far this season. Tiley, a native of Markdale, Ont., will captain the Canadian AHL All-Star team.

Craig Darby will be making his fifth career AHL All-Star Classic appearance in 2005.

Craig Darby has registered 555 points (197 goals, 358 assists) in 587 career American Hockey League contests with the Springfield Falcons, Albany River Rats, Quebec Citadelles, Philadelphia Phantoms, Worcester IceCats and Fredericton Canadiens, and currently ranks third on the Falcons with 21 points in 34 games in 2004-05. A native of Oneida, N.Y., Darby won a Calder Cup championship with Philadelphia in 1998, when he scored a career-best 42 goals. He was a First Team AHL All-Star in 1998 and a Second Team selection in 2003, and will be playing in his fifth AHL All-Star Classic after making appearances in 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2004. Darby will captain the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team.
Previous players honored as AHL All-Star team captains include Terry Virtue, Travis Richards, John Slaney, Randy Cunneyworth, Peter White, Ken Gernander, Peter Laviolette, John Stevens and Jody Gage.
Of the 328 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 92 percent have competed in the NHL, including Daniel Briere, Andrew Brunette, Anson Carter, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, J.P. Dumont, Patrik Elias, Manny Legace, John Madden, Ladislav Nagy, Vaclav Prospal, Martin St. Louis, Marc Savard, Steve Sullivan and Tomas Vokoun.
The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., home of the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs. The event gets underway on Sunday, February 13, with the 2005 AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Monday, February 14, and will be televised live nationally in the United States and Canada.
