Wolves get Vandermeer; Schroeder recalled

The Vancouver Canucks have recalled center Jordan Schroeder from the Chicago Wolves and have assigned defenseman Jim Vandermeer to the Wolves.

Vandermeer, who was signed by Vancouver on Jan. 14, is a 10-year National Hockey League veteran. He posted one goal, three assists and 33 penalty minutes in 25 games with the San Jose Sharks last season.

Overall, the 30-year-old blueliner has amassed 80 assists, 105 points and 664 penalty minutes in 461 career NHL tilts with Philadelphia, Chicago, Calgary, Phoenix, Edmonton and San Jose. Vandermeer has played 200 career AHL games with Philadelphia (2001-04) and Norfolk (2004-05), totaling nine goals, 37 assists and 494 PIM.

Schroeder has tallied nine goals, 10 assists and 19 points in 30 games with the Wolves this season. The third-year pro was a first-round draft pick by Vancouver (22nd overall) in 2009, and is looking to make his NHL debut.
