Wolves relieve Granato, Christie

The Chicago Wolves announced on Monday that head coach Don Granato and assistant coach Jason Christie have been relieved of their duties.

“I’d like to thank Don and Jason for their time with the team,” said Wolves general manager Wendell Young. “I know they put their heart and soul into this team, but after missing the playoffs last season and starting 1-5-0-0, we can’t wait any longer. The team wasn’t moving in the right direction quickly enough.”

The Wolves posted a 39-42-3-2 record in 86 games with Granato and Christie behind the bench. The pair joined the team prior to the start of the 2008-09 campaign.

No timetable has been set for replacements to be named. Young and senior advisor/director of hockey operations Gene Ubriaco will run practices in the interim.
