Norfolk raises $36,600 for MDA

The Norfolk Admirals announced that on Monday that the club’s annual MDA Jersey Auction raised a record total of $36,600 this past Saturday.

Following Norfolk’s game against Portland on Mar. 19, the team auctioned off the players’ game-worn jerseys to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

For the previous week, the Admirals had worn a special black third home jersey, which were then sold in the auction. The highest winning bid was made for the sweater of Norfolk’s 2005 All-Star representative, Rene Bourque. His jersey sold for a record $6,500.

Ajay Baines‘ jersey went for $2,000, as did that of rookie defenseman James Wisniewski. The jersey of goaltender Michael Leighton pulled in $1,650.

The Admirals’ jersey auction raised the highest total of any such jersey auction for the MDA National Office to date this year.
