Norfolk’s Bolland named top rookie for February

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Norfolk Admirals center David Bolland has been named the Rbk Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month for February.

Bolland recorded six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 13 games with the league-leading Admirals last month.

Bolland began the month by tallying a season-high three points (1g, 2a) in Norfolk’s 6-3 win vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 2. He strung together a four-game scoring streak from Feb. 9-16, and picked up three assists in a 5-2 win at Philadelphia on Feb. 18. Bolland closed out February with back-to-back two-point nights, registering a goal and an assist on Feb. 25 at Worcester and dishing out two assists on Feb. 27 at Manchester.

In recognition of his achievement, Bolland will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.

A second-round pick (32nd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, the 20-year-old Bolland has notched 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points in 46 games for Norfolk this season, and has appeared in one NHL game, making his debut with the Blackhawks on Oct. 25, 2006, vs. Vancouver. The Toronto native won a Memorial Cup championship with London (OHL) in 2004-05, and tied for the OHL lead with 57 goals in 2005-06.
