Oilers name Bill Scott GM in Oklahoma City

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that AHL director of hockey operations Bill Scott has been hired by the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers to serve as the general manager of their new AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons.

“On behalf of our teams and our Board of Governors, I would like to thank Bill for his service to the American Hockey League over the last four years,” said Andrews. “The Barons are fortunate to have added a general manager with Bill Scott’s character and talent, and we wish him success in Oklahoma City.”

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 85 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the ninth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2009-10.
