Oilers recall Greene, loan Conklin to Hartford

The Edmonton Oilers announced a pair of roster moves as the team begins a three-game eastern road trip in Philadelphia tonight.

Goaltender Ty Conklin has been assigned to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack on a conditioning assignment, and the Oilers have recalled defenseman Matt Greene from the Iowa Stars.

Greene, a second-round draft choice by the Oilers in 2002, has recorded two goals and four assists along with a plus-1 rating in 23 games with Iowa this season. The 22-year-old rookie out of the University of North Dakota has netted both of his goals on special teams — one on the power play and one shorthanded.

Conklin, who backstopped Hamilton to within one win of a Calder Cup title in 2003, has been on injured reserve since suffering a groin strain during a conditioning stint with the Bulldogs last month. Conklin was 1-2-0 in three appearances with Hamilton.

Conklin, 29, has appeared in four games for Edmonton this season, earning one win and one loss, with a 4.39 goals-against average, and a .836 save percentage.

He is expected to start for the Wolf Pack in Springfield on Friday and vs. Philadelphia on Saturday, then rejoin the Oilers for their game in New Jersey on Tuesday.
