Oilers sign two-time Calder Cup champ Jurco

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Tomas Jurco to a one-year contract.

Jurco, 26, won a Calder Cup championship with the Charlotte Checkers in 2019, tallying seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 18 games during the postseason. It was Jurco’s second Calder Cup win; he was a member of Grand Rapids’ title squad in 2013.

During the 2018-19 regular season, Jurco appeared in 33 games between Springfield and Charlotte, totaling 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points.

The eighth-year pro has played 201 games in the NHL with Detroit and Chicago, registering 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points. In 182 AHL games with Charlotte, Springfield, Rockford and Grand Rapids, he has amassed 58 goals and 65 assists for 123 points.
