Oilers sign veteran forward Malone

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Brad Malone to a two-year contract.

Malone split the 2016-17 season between the AHL’s Hershey Bears and the Chicago Wolves, totaling 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 71 games.

A 28-year-old native of Chatham, N.B., Malone has appeared in 236 AHL games with Chicago, Hershey and Lake Erie, recording 40 goals and 63 assists for 103 points.

Originally a fourth-round draft pick by Colorado in 2007, Malone has skated in 176 NHL games with the Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes, posting 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points.
