Ottawa recalls Malec from Binghamton

The Ottawa Senators recalled defenseman Tomas Malec from Binghamton on Thursday on an emergency basis for tonight’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Malec played in 79 games for Binghamton last season, collecting one goal, 28 assists and 118 penalty minutes. In 249 career AHL contests with Binghamton, Cincinnati and Lowell, the 2003 AHL All-Star has recorded 12 goals and 58 assists for 70 points, along with 373 PIM.

Malec cleared waivers at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and was assigned to Binghamton after attending training camp in Ottawa. He has two assists and 47 penalty minutes in 45 career NHL games with Ottawa and Carolina.
