Panthers acquire Blacker

The Florida Panthers, parent club of the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, have acquired defenseman Jesse Blacker and future draft pick considerations from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Colby Robak.

Blacker, 23, has appeared in 15 games for the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals this season, registering five assists. The Toronto, Ont., native made his National Hockey League debut with Anaheim on Nov. 28 against Chicago.

Blacker was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round (58th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft. In 195 career AHL games with Norfolk and Toronto, he has totaled 11 goals and 47 assists for 58 points. He was a member of the 2012 Toronto Marlies team that reached the Calder Cup Finals.

Robak, 24, appeared in 42 career games with Florida, recording three assists and 25 penalty minutes. The 2012 AHL All-Star tallied 29 goals and 78 assists for 107 points in 268 AHL games with Rochester and San Antonio.
