Panthers acquire Heatley from Anaheim

The Florida Panthers, parent club of the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, have acquired forward Dany Heatley and a third-round choice in the 2015 NHL Draft from Anaheim in exchange for forward Tomas Fleischmann.

Heatley is expected to report to San Antonio.

Heatley, 34, has appeared in 25 AHL games with Norfolk this season, registering two goals and five assists for seven points. In 869 National Hockey League games with the Atlanta Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks, Heatley has totaled 372 goals and 419 assists for 791 points. He has added 63 points in 77 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

In his 13-year NHL playing career, Heatley recorded back-to-back 50 goal seasons in 2005-06 and 2006-07 with Ottawa. He was also awarded the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL’s rookie of the year, in 2001-02 with Atlanta.

Heatley was drafted by Atlanta in the first round (second overall) in the 2000 NHL Draft.

Fleischmann, a Calder Cup champion with Hershey in 2006, has played in 567 NHL games recording 122 goals and 182 assists for 304 points. He appeared in 262 games with Florida, scoring 54 goals with 91 assists.
