Panthers add goaltending depth with Pelletier

The Florida Panthers on Friday announced they have signed three-time AHL All-Star goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier.

The Panthers have not yet announced an AHL affiliation agreement for the 2005-06 season.

Pelletier, 27, has appeared in 231 games with Springfield, Utah, Lowell and Philadelphia since 1998, posting a record of 96-101-19 with 12 shutouts. He split last season between the Falcons and Grizzlies, going 8-22-2 in 32 games.

A second-round draft pick (30th overall) by the Flyers in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, the Atlanta native was the MVP of the 1999 AHL All-Star Classic in Philadelphia. He also participated in the event in 2000 and 2002.

Pelletier has seven games of NHL experience over his career, and earned his first NHL win on Feb. 20, 2004, with Phoenix vs. Columbus.
