Panthers sign Rheault

The Florida Panthers, parent club of the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, announced today that the club has agreed to terms of a one-year, two-way contract with right wing Jon Rheault.

Rheault, 25, recorded 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 47 games with Abbotsford (AHL) during the 2011-12 season. The Arlington, Texas, native added four points (3-1-4) in eight playoff games with the Heat this spring.

In 194 career AHL games with Abbotsford, Manchester and Providence, Rheault has registered 36 goals and 47 assists for 83 points.

Rheault was originally selected by Philadelphia in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The right wing played four years of college hockey at Providence College.
