Penguins, Bears clash in battle of the best

The top two teams in the American Hockey League collide this evening when the Hershey Bears play host to the first-place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Giant Center.

Game time is 5:00 p.m. (ET), and you can catch the action of this and all 10 of today’s AHL games with B2 Networks’ live video webcasts.

The Penguins, who had their AHL-record 15-game road winning streak snapped in Hershey two Sundays ago, improved to 22-2-2-1 with a shootout victory over Norfolk on Saturday night. Wilkes-Barre has split two games over the weekend with Joe Mullen and Rick Kehoe at the helm following the promotion of Michel Therrien and Mike Yeo to Pittsburgh.

Four of the Penguins’ top five scorers, as well as their top goaltender, are on recall to the NHL.

The Bears are arguably the hottest team in the AHL, winners of six in a row and 15-1-2-3 since a 5-2 loss to Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 28. Hershey has 44 points through 29 games, the best start in the franchise’s 68-year history.

Tomas Fleischmann, who scored a goal in Hershey’s 4-0 win over Hamilton on Saturday night, has recorded 11 points in seven games during December for the Bears.
