Penguins get by Bears in overtime

2 1

Chad Kolarik‘s goal with 10.8 seconds left in overtime gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 win over the Hershey Bears at Giant Center on Sunday afternoon.

It was Kolarik’s 18th goal of the season, and his second in five games since joining the Penguins in a trade last week.

Wilkes-Barre has won three straight meetings with Hershey, including the last two in overtime.

Bears captain Boyd Kane opened the scoring with his ninth goal of the season at 9:34 of the second period, but it was his unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at 3:45 of OT that gave the Pengiuns the man advantage on which they scored the winning goal.

Riley Holzapfel tied the game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 7:57 to play in regulation.

Jeff Zatkoff stopped 20 of 21 shots on the afternoon, allowing exactly one goal for the fourth consecutive start.

Dany Sabourin took the loss for the Bears despite making 37 saves.
