Penguins sign defenseman Czuczman

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Kevin Czuczman to a one-year, two-way contract.

Czuczman, 26, spent last season with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, serving as an alternate captain and setting career highs with nine goals, 23 assists and 32 points while playing in all 76 games.

The 6-foot-2, 206-pound defenseman has skated in 200 career AHL games with Manitoba and Bridgeport, recording 14 goals and 40 assists for 54 points.

He has two assists in 13 career NHL games, all played with the New York Islanders in 2013-14 following the completion of his junior season at Lake Superior State University.
