Penguins square Eastern final at 2-2

Eric Meloche converted on a power play with 8:27 remaining in the third period as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scratched out a 5-4 win over Hartford in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final on Sunday evening.

The series is now tied at two games apiece, with Game 5 set for the Hartford Civic Center on Tuesday night.

Kris Beech had two goals and an assist for Wilkes-Barre, which never trailed in the contest. Tom Kostopoulos and Matt Murley also scored, and Konstantin Koltsov added two assists. The Pens went 3-for-6 on the power play in the game.

Former Penguins captain Jason MacDonald scored a pair of goals for the Wolf Pack and Jozef Balej added his ninth of the postseason. Jeff Paul capped the scoring with 5.7 seconds to go in the game, making Murley’s empty-net insurance marker stand up as the game-winning goal.

Sebastien Caron made his first start since Game 2 of the division finals against Philadelphia and stopped 19 shots, including a point-blank attempt by Alexandre Giroux with just over five minutes remaining.
