Pens move on with 3-1 win

Tomas Surovy scored one goal and set up another as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defeated Philadelphia on Friday night, 3-1, to finish off the East Division final in six games.

The Penguins will meet Hartford in the Eastern Conference championship series beginning Tuesday night.

Surovy broke a scoreless tie at the 3:34 mark of the second period, then assisted on Patrick Boileau‘s goal less than eight minutes later to give Wilkes-Barre a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Whitney recorded two assists, and Andy Chiodo made 20 saves.

Mark Murphy‘s power play goal 2:51 into the third period was all that kept the Penguins from recording a fourth consecutive home-ice shutout.

Matt Murley scored an empty-net goal with 55 seconds left in regulation to seal the win before 7,724 fans at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
