Peverley paces Admirals to 8-5 win

MILWAUKEE 8, GRAND RAPIDS 5
Rich Peverley recorded five points and Ville Koistinen scored twice during a four-goal third period as Milwaukee rallied for an 8-5 win over Grand Rapids at the Kern Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Peverley picked up two goals and three assists on the night, and the defenseman Koistinen added two assists for a four-point effort. Sheldon Brookbank and Patrick Yetman finished with a goal and an assist each for the Admirals.

Matt Ellis led the Griffins with a pair of goals.

Frederic Cloutier earned the win for Milwaukee, stopping all 24 shots he faced in the third period in relief of Karl Goehring.


LOWELL 6, PORTLAND 4

Chris Minard and Ivan Khomutov both scored twice to pace the Lowell Devils to a 6-4 victory over the Portland Pirates in AHL preseason action at Tsongas Arena on Friday night.

Petr Vrana recorded two assists and Frank Doyle turned aside 30 shots for the Devils, who also got single goals from Justin Papineau and Stephen Gionta.

Mike Erickson, a rookie out of Western Michigan University, had two goals and an assist for Portland.


IOWA 4, PEORIA 2

Marty Sertich broke a tie with 3:41 left in regulation and lifted Iowa to a 4-2 win over Peoria at Wells Fargo Arena.

Sertich, who won the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in U.S. college hockey in 2004-05, also picked up an assist for the Stars, who scored three power-play goals on the night. Junior Lessard and Vadim Khomitsky also had a goal and an assist each.

Cam Keith and Peter Sejna scored for the Rivermen.


WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON 7, HERSHEY 1

Connor James scored twice as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton rolled to a 7-1 win over Hershey at the Wachovia Arena.

Sean Collins, Erik Christensen and Micki DuPont each added a goal and an assist and Andrew Penner made 22 saves for the Penguins. Jordan Morrison added two assists.


BRIDGEPORT 4, ALBANY 3 (OT)

Bryan Rodney scored 1:33 into overtime to give Bridgeport a 4-3 win over Albany in Shelton, Conn.

Rodney’s goal capped a Sound Tigers comeback from a three-goal deficit.

Jeremy Colliton scored twice and Steve Regier and Kevin Mitchell had two assists each for the Sound Tigers. David Svagrovsky led the River Rats with a goal and an assist.


SYRACUSE 6, HAMILTON 4

Joe Motzko and Brent Walton scored two goals each as Syracuse earned a 6-4 win over Hamilton at the War Memorial on Friday.

Filip Novak, Andrew Murray, Jeff Szwez and Marc Methot added two assists apiece for the Crunch, while Tomas Popperle made 30 saves.

Michael Lambert had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs.


TORONTO 4, ROCHESTER 1

Martin Sagat scored twice as Toronto posted a 4-1 win over the host Americans at the ESL Center in Rochester.

Brad Leeb and Jiri Tlusty also scored for the Marlies, who got 24 saves from Justin Pogge.

Dylan Hunter had the Amerks’ goal.


WORCESTER 3, MANCHESTER 1

Two late goals by Riley Armstrong gave Worcester a 3-1 win over Manchester in Marlborough, Mass., on Friday.

Armstrong snapped a 1-1 tie with 5:13 left in regulation, then capped the scoring with an empty-netter at 19:33.

Daniel Spang also scored for the Sharks, and Dimitri Patzold made 23 saves. Konstantin Pushkarev scored for the Monarchs.


HARTFORD 5, SPRINGFIELD 3

Lee Falardeau scored two goals and Chris Holt made 28 saves as Hartford took a 5-3 decision in Springfield on Saturday night.

Greg Moore, Hugh Jessiman and Mark Lee also scored for the Wolf Pack, while the Falcons got goals from Dan Cavanaugh, Adam Henrich and John Adams.
