Phantoms edge Monarchs, 1-0

Jon Sim‘s goal 1:56 into the game was all the offense as Philadelphia shut down the AHL’s most potent offense and took a 1-0 victory from Manchester on Friday night.

The Monarchs are now 1-3-1-1 since their 13-game winning streak, while the Phantoms have won three in a row.

Antero Niittymaki made 24 saves for the shutout, his second of the season. Mathieu Garon finished with 21 saves but dropped to 14-4-1 on the year.

Philadelphia held the powerful Manchester offense to just 24 shots, and killed off all four of the Monarchs’ power plays.

Manchester continues its road trip Saturday in Hershey, while Philadelphia is off until hosting Binghamton on Sunday.
