Phantoms sign Zengerle, Ouellette

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced that forward Mark Zengerle and goaltender Martin Ouellette have been signed to AHL contracts.

A 27-year-old forward from Rochester, N.Y., Zengerle is entering his third professional season in 2016-17. He collected nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points in 72 AHL games with Grand Rapids last season, finishing third on the team in scoring.

Zengerle, who spent four seasons at the University of Wisconsin, has totaled 24 goals and 60 assists for 84 points in 144 regular-season AHL games over the last two campaigns, as well as two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 24 Calder Cup Playoff matches.

Ouellette, 24, appeared in nine AHL games with Lehigh Valley last season, going 5-3-0 with a 2.36 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and two shutouts. He was 17-10-3 (2.10, .922) with four shutouts in 31 appearances for Reading (ECHL), finishing third in the league in GAA and tied for second in shutouts.

Ouellette has made 17 AHL appearances over his first two pro seasons, notching a record of 8-5-0 with a 2.59 GAA, a .918 save percentage and two shutouts.
