Phantoms win eighth straight

Peter White scored with 37 seconds left in regulation to set up Philadelphia’s 3-2 shootout win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday night, giving the Phantoms their eighth straight victory and halting the Penguins’ own winning streak at five.

Needing three straight goals to claim the shootout win, Philadelphia got scores from Joni Pitkanen, Patrick Sharp and R.J. Umberger against Pens goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Sharp was held scoreless in regulation, ending his personal scoring streak at nine games.

Former Penguin John Slaney also scored for Philadelphia, while Shane Endicott and Maxime Talbot scored for Wilkes-Barre. Endicott has tallied a goal in four straight games.

Antero Niittymaki made 23 saves for the Phantoms.
