Pivko steers Admirals to Game 2 win

A five-point night by left wing Libor Pivko helped Milwaukee to a 5-3 victory over Chicago on Friday night in Game 2 of the AHL’s West Division final at the Bradley Center.

Pivko scored three times and picked up two assists on the night, as the Admirals took a 2-0 series lead over the Wolves.

Mathieu Darche and Vern Fiddler also scored for Milwaukee, and Wyatt Smith registered three assists.

Wade Flaherty made 37 saves for the Admirals, who never trailed but nearly saw a three-goal lead slip away in the third period. Chicago pulled to within a goal before Pivko capped his hat trick with an empty-netter in the final seconds of the game.

Game 3 of the series is Saturday night at the Allstate Arena in suburban Chicago.

PHILADELPHIA 3, WILKES-BARRE 2 (OT)
Another night, another overtime game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

But on Friday, it was rookie Jeff Carter scoring 15:20 into the extra period, giving Philadelphia a 3-2 victory and evening the East Division final at one win apiece.

The Penguins are 3-3 in overtime this postseason, with six of their nine games requiring OT.

Shane Endicott and Michel Ouellet gave Wilkes-Barre an early 2-0 lead, but defensemen John Slaney and Dennis Seidenberg answered in the second period.

Carter’s winning goal came on a power play with Shane Endicott off for holding.

Antero Niittymaki made 28 saves on the night for the win; Sebastien Caron stopped 36 shots in the loss.

Game 3 is set for Saturday in Wilkes-Barre.
