Predators claim Leighton from Anaheim

The Nashville Predators have acquired goaltender Michael Leighton from the Anaheim Ducks on re-entry waivers. The transaction was announced to media following Monday’s Predators practice.

Karl Goehring, who backed up Predators goalie Chris Mason for Saturday’s game, will be reassigned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Leighton has posted a record of 8-6-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average and two shutouts in 16 appearances for the AHL’s Portland Pirates in 2006-07. He is tied for third in the league in wins, tied for second in shutouts and third in minutes played (962).

In 203 career AHL games, Leighton shows a record of 98-80-19 with 22 shutouts. He has 43 games of NHL experience, all with the Chicago Blackhawks.
