Predators sign defenseman Irwin

The Nashville Predators, parent club of the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, announced today that the club has signed defenseman Matt Irwin to a one-year contract.

Irwin posted five goals and 25 assists in 64 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins in 2015-16, and also appeared in two games with Boston in the NHL.

The six-year pro from Brentwood Bay, B.C., has amassed 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 155 NHL games with Boston and San Jose, as well as 27 goals and 91 assists for 118 points in 245 AHL contests with Providence and Worcester. Irwin participated in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2012.
