Quine named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Bridgeport Sound Tigers center Alan Quine has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Apr. 3, 2016.

Quine scored four goals and added three assists for seven points in three games last week as Bridgeport closed in on a berth in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Quine recorded a career-high three assists on Tuesday vs. Portland, helping the Sound Tigers rally from two goals down to defeat the Pirates, 5-2. He then notched his first career hat trick on Saturday night, scoring the first three goals and earning first-star honors in Bridgeport’s 5-2 victory at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Quine then scored the Sound Tigers’ only goal in a 3-1 loss to Springfield on Sunday, giving him points on seven of the team’s 11 markers for the week.

Quine has totaled 19 goals and 29 assists for 48 points in 55 AHL games with Bridgeport this season, his third pro campaign. The 23-year-old native of Ottawa, Ont., was a sixth-round pick by the New York Islanders in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 194 career AHL contests for Bridgeport and Grand Rapids, notching 50 goals and 87 assists for 137 points. Quine represented the Sound Tigers at the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic earlier this season.

In recognition of his achievement, Quine will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Sound Tigers home game.
