Rampage double up Rivermen; Wolves secure spot

David Spina netted a pair of goals as San Antonio doubled up visiting Peoria by a 4-2 count on Thursday at the AT&T Center, snapping a four-game losing skid in the process.

Mike Zigomanis notched a goal and two assists for the Rampage (36-24-3-7), who moved back over idle Houston and into sole possession of third place in the West Division.

San Antonio’s Bill Thomas also scored in the victory, while Matt Murley and Chris Durno chipped in two assists apiece.

Rampage goaltender Al Montoya stopped 31 of 33 shots in the winning effort, which snapped a personal four-game losing streak.

Chris Porter netted both goals for the Rivermen, one late in the first period and the other late in the third. After a visit to Houston on Friday, Peoria will return for a rematch with the Rampage on Saturday.

The Rivermen’s loss allowed idle Chicago to officially clinch a spot in the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Wolves currently lead the West Division with 98 points (47-18-2-2).
