Rampage drop Rivermen in overtime to end homestand

SAN ANTONIO 3, PEORIA 2 (OT)

San Antonio wrapped up a six-game homestand with a 3-2 overtime win over Peoria on Thursday at the AT&T Center.

Rampage forward Joel Perrault tied the contest at 2-2 with 6:37 left in regulation, and rookie Kevin Porter tallied the game-winner just 40 seconds into the extra session.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in both the second and third frames. Rivermen defenseman Justin Fletcher opened the scoring 8:46 into the second, but Francis Lessard responded less than three minutes later with just his second goal of the season for San Antonio.

Cam Paddock put Peoria back on top 10:27 into the third. However, the Rampage were again quick to knot it up, as Perrault scored at the 13:23 mark.

Porter’s overtime marker was assisted by Sean Sullivan and Wyatt Smith. It was the rookie’s 11th goal of the season, four of which have been game-winners.

Rampage goaltender Al Montoya made 28 saves on 30 shots in the winning effort, as San Antonio concluded its homestand with a mark of 2-3-0-1. The Rampage open a five-game road trip on Saturday at Lake Erie.

With the point gained in the overtime loss, Peoria (36-30-2-1, 75 points) moved into a tie with Houston for second place in the West Division race.
